The Line Outside the Schoolyard
The sight of hundreds of patients waiting outside the gates of the schoolyard turned clinic can be one of the most daunting things to face on a VOSH mission. If the pickup trucks with loudspeakers blaring have done their jobs, the word of a mission will have gotten around, and people show up. When they do, we need to see as many as possible. One tactic for handling overflow crowds is to hand out placeholders for the next day when it becomes obvious that not all who have shown up will be seen that day.
